The goal of DCMEA is to advocate and advance music education across Washington D.C. DCMEA will also provide professional growth opportunities, encourage interaction among music education professionals, foster public support for music in schools, offer quality musical experiences for students, cultivate a universal appreciation and lifetime involvement in music, and develop and maintain productive working relationships with other professional organizations.
We are dedicated to providing enjoyable and enriching opportunities in music to students of any race, ethnicity, cultural background, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, language, and socio-economic status.

NSO In Your Neighborhood is a community engagement initiative that provides free NSO performances and activities for one week in a specific D.C. neighborhood. Events range from full NSO concerts and chamber performances to in-school visits and masterclasses, presented in collaboration with local and community-based venues.
This fall, the NSO partners with community-based organizations, local artists, and neighborhoods across Wards 5, 6, and 7 to celebrate the rich cultural legacy in Northeast Washington, D.C. All events are FREE and open to the public unless otherwise noted. Click here to learn more.
