The goal of DCMEA is to advocate and advance music education across Washington D.C. DCMEA will also provide professional growth opportunities, encourage interaction among music education professionals, foster public support for music in schools, offer quality musical experiences for students, cultivate a universal appreciation and lifetime involvement in music, and develop and maintain productive working relationships with other professional organizations.
We are dedicated to providing enjoyable and enriching opportunities in music to students of any race, ethnicity, cultural background, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, language, and socio-economic status.

The music professional development will have all members of the DCMEA executive board in attendance to answer questions about the reinvigoration of DCMEA and there will be staff from NAfME there as well.
